About Us All About Angels was planned to be a different type of shop. Besides the fact that we had "only" angels in the shop, we wanted a different "feel" to the shop. The music playing and the sound of falling water from the angel fountain helped you to find peace in our shop.
Sadly, our physical shop closed at the end of 2007. Three dollar gasoline hurt the local economy badly. Over 15 area giftshops closed during our 5-year operation. But, we continue to service our on-line customers, and continue to look for new products for our store.
Our new location is 6365 S Latrobe, Chicago, 60638-5710. Many prices have been reduced to reflect our lower overhead.
Many thanks to the former employees of All About Angels.
Sue, who managed the shop, now has her own website: http://www.gourdsbysue.com/ , which I hope you will visit.
Peace and Grace be with you all, Don
THE ARCHANGELS
Who are the Archangels? The term Archangel applies generically to all Angels above the grade of (the order of) Angels. Archangel also serves to designate a specific rank of angel in the celestial hierarchy. According to the celestial hierarchies of 'Dionysos as well as the Jewish and Christian scriptures, there are nine celestial orders or choirs orbiting the throne of God. They are respectively the Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels and Angels. Of all the angelic orders, the Archangels have the greatest claim to fame being considered the greatest Angels. The seven Angels who stand before the throne of God in Revelations are usually interpreted as the Archangels. The Koran of Islam recognizes only four and actually names but two, Gabriel and Michael. While Christian and Jewish sources agree on the number seven, there is a debate as to who they might actually be. However, four names which do appear regularly are: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. The other three candidates are usually chosen from Metatron, Remiel, Sariel, Anael, Raguel and Raziel.
Archangel Michael: Michael means "Who is as God". Michael ranks as the greatest of all angels whether in Jewish, Christian or Islamic writings. He is chief of the Order of Virtues, Chief of Archangels, Prince of the Presence, the Angel of Repentance, Righteousness, Mercy and Sanctification; also, ruler of the Fourth Heaven and Conqueror of Satan. It is Michael who will descend from heaven with "the key to the abyss and a great chain in his hand" to "bind the satanic dragon for 1000 years" (Revelation: 20:1). It is foretold in Daniel that when the world is once again in real trouble, Michael will reappear. Among the Dead Sea Scrolls there is one titled "The War of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Darkness". Here, Michael is called the "Prince of Light". Michael is often represented as the Angel of the Final Reckoning and Weigher of Souls, holding in his hand the scales of justice. During the Byzantine period he was often shown holding an orb representing the Earth under his protection.
Archangel Raphael: Raphael means "God has healed". Raphael is above all the Angel of Healing as his name denotes. Raphael is also the Chief ruling Prince of the Second Heaven, Chief of the Order of Virtues, Guardian of the Tree of Life in Eden, and by his own admission "one of the seven Holy Angels" that attend the throne of God". This he reveals to Tobias in the Book of Tobit. He is declared to be "One of the Four Presences set over all the diseases and wounds of the children of men (Enoch 1) and in the Zohar he is "charged to heal the Earth". Raphael is one of the six Angels of Repentance, Angel of Prayer, Love, Joy and Light. He is said to be both the friendliest and funniest of all the angelic flock.
Archangel Gabriel: Gabriel means "God is my strength". Gabriel is the Angel of Annunciation, Resurrection, Mercy, Vengeance, Death and Revelation. Gabriel is the ruler of Heaven and ruler of the Cherubin. Gabriel presides over paradise. Gabriel is said to sit on the left hand side of God. Mohammed claimed it was Gabriel (Jibril in Islamic) the one of the" 140 pairs of wings" who dictated to him the Koran. To the Mohammedans Gabriel is the spirit of truth. In Jewish legend, it was Gabriel who dealt death and destruction to Sodom and Gomorra. Gabriel appeared to Daniel to tell him of the coming of the Messiah, a message which later repeats to Mary in the Annunciation. Earlier Gabriel had announced to Zacharias the coming of John the Baptist.
Archangel Uriel: Urial means "Fire of God". He presides over Tartarus or Hell holding the fiery sword of spiritual light. Being both a Seraphin and a Cherubin, he is identified as one of the Angels who helped bury Adam and Abel in Paradise. Urial is also the Angel of Salvation, the dark Angel who restled with Jacob at Peniel, the destroyer of the host of Sennacherib, and also the messenger sent by God to warn Noah of the deluge. Often identified as the cherub who stands at the gate of Eden with a fiery sword or as in Enoch 1 where he is the Angel who "watches over thunder and terror". In the Apocalypse, Uriel appears as the Angel of Repentance. He is often shown holding his fiery sword of justice in one hand and the keys to the gates of Hell in the other hand.
